Desire to Make the World a Better Place

There are many things that inspire me to make the world a better place. The main things that contribute to my ways of wanting to make things better, is the many commercials that show how some people aren't as privelaged as we are. These commercials show people with no homes, or people whose homes were destroyed, and people with illnesses. Once I see these, I realized that with a little help, we could make the world a better place. I have not directly done anything yet to help this issue, but when I am older and have a stable job of my own, then I definitely will. Another thing that makes me realize that I want to help change the world, is the fact that there are things to change. The world isn't perfect, but if we all work together on this issue, we can make it as great, and wonderful, and safe as possible.

FLAW IN APPLE'S IMESSAGE ENCRYPTION LETS HACKERS SNOOP PHOTOS

  • iPhone's iMessage had an encryption flaw that allowed skilled hackers to open pictures and videos
  • the attack targeted photos stored in the iCloud
  • as said on the website, this happens like this...
    • "The software intercepted an iMessage message containing a link to a photo on Apple's iCloud storage, which we reported is used to transmit video and photos, and then pinged the iPhone with a guess at the 64-bit encryption key. If the guess was wrong, then the software changed one digit, and tried again. When they did get a digit right, the phone's software confirmed it. Then, it was a matter of having the software repeat the process thousands of times."
  • the iOS 9.3 update should get rid of this bug once and for all

My One Good Deed

So today I was given an invisible cloak, and told to perform a good deed for someone else. At first I had no idea what to do, but then it came to me in a sudden wave. I decided to buy a ton of food from the food store, and give it all to the homeless in equal pieces. When I got to the food store, I went to the bread aisle, and grabbed a few loaves of bread. Next, I went to the snacks aisle, and grabbed many boxes of cookies, goldfish, and plenty bags of chips. Once I payed, I went to the city with all my food and got ready to start my good deed.

Once in the city, I walked along the streets to find some people without homes. In their little buckets that say, “Feed me”, I dropped in some food and a few dollar bills. I did this for many blocks, until my food ran out. The next few homeless people I saw, I gave them money to use to buy their own food and supplies to live. Doing this for one day, without anyone knowing who I was, was an amazing feeling. I loved helping people even without them asking, and being a hero to people who need one.

Web 2.0 Multimedia Blog Pre-Posting

So far during my sophomore year, I have been taking some very good classes. However, the one I enjoy the most is US History 1. This class is taught by Ms.Gaven, who is very nice, funny, and is an amazing teacher. When I started this class I thought I was going to learn a bunch of stuff from the past, but Ms.Gaven started by teaching us about the Bill of Rights, and many of the amendments from the Constitution. After that, then we got into the past history. We learned about political bosses, the Industrial Age, the truth about cowboys, and many more interesting topics.
My favorite part of this class is the fact that we can have open discussions not only about what we're learning, but about what's going on in the present day. We discuss very controversial issues and state our honest opinions, without getting judged. Yes, some people have different opinions, but you are never critisized for what you feel. I always feel like I can speak my mind in this class and be okay with it. Another thing I like about this class is that I'm not afraid to present. In my many years of being a WRHS student, I have been forced to present in front of a class without any choice, and be scared of getting judged. However, in this class I am not afraid because I know Ms.Gaven will not tolerate anyone being disrespectful to anyone else. Therefore, I look at Ms.Gaven as a way to help me getting over my presenting anxiety.
We use the Chromebooks very often in this class. Ms.Gaven tries to have use do projects online, and every single assignment we have is posted on Ms.Gaven's website, so that it saves paper and helps us to take information from online, and apply it to what we are learning in class. I think this is very helpful because nowadays we usually use technology as much as possible, and using it in the classroom makes the work much more efficient and somewhat easier, in my opinion. I hope that many other teachers will learn from Ms.Gaven and start using the computers more often, for it helps to make work easier to do, and it helps the environment also.
